Mr. Jim's daughter, Christine weds in a Maui Beach....Awesome! It was a perfect sunset wedding! It was their 10th anniversary. I guess it was a renewal of vows in the sandy white beach in South Maui. We were all surprised when the groom showed his talent to his bride by picking up the guitar and started to sing a hawaiian love song. I had chicken skin - some people are so much in love! A beautiful sight full of aloha! I could see Mr Jim crying and sobbing to himself (secretly) - full of joy and happiness for his one and only daughter. Are they coming back for their 11th?

Went fishing for nabeta (wrasse) off waters of Lahaina, Maui. Fishing was very slow but caught a few and when we caught a little Nabeta - we used it for live bait on our bonus line. As you can see our Little fish got the “big one.”(19 lbs Uku) Can’t get better than that….beats working!!! Do we get invited to the next fish party?

The condo which I rented out will be vacant. The two Maui teachers who rented it for $1500 per month, are moving out soon. I am thinking of selling it rather than look for another tenant in the long term rental market.

The unit is located in the 2nd floor of the Haleakala Gardens complex and has vaulted, high ceilings and is a very unique find in the whole of Kihei. From the living room, you see the mountain view of the mighty Haleakala mountain and some beautiful landscaping of the Haleakala Gardens Condominium' clubhouse.

Last year, I had installed brand name window airconditioners in each room to ensure comfort to the 883 square feet of living area in addition to the natural Kihei breeze.

In December 2005, I replaced all the carpets in the entire unit with wooden pergo floors for easier maintenance and cleanliness. The kitchen was refurbished with new counter top, sink, faucets, and disposal. I also acquired and replaced the aging refrigerator and stove with quality name brand appliances. The dishwasher was also replaced with a new one from Sears and the ordinary hood fan was removed and replaced with a new microwave/fan combination leaving more countertop space for cooking preparations. Looking at all the new appliance replacements, we decided to, might as well, replace the linoleum floor with ceramic tiles. The whole kitchen looked so beautiful with its new look and brightness. Btw, the cabinet doors were also refaced at that time.

In the laundry closet right by the hallway, we replaced the aging stackable washing machine/dryer with a new one from Sears.

The bathrooms' floors were replaced with ceramic tiles, electrical lightings were replaced with contemporary fixtures and sinks were fitted with brass faucets.

You can walk and be in the beach in about 5 minutes from the unit to enjoy the Maui sunsets, stroll in barefeet on the sandy beach and breath some fresh, cool sea breeze from the Pacific Ocean.

The Plumeria is the most beautiful flowerer/plant in the world because of the following characteristics.The Plumeria looks so clean and refreshing and it seems it blooms all year round in Maui. The white plumeria smells sweet, while another color can smell like jasmine, peaches or citrusy. The plant grows everywhere in the island. It could be a very big tree or the growth could be controled in a flower pot and it makes a fantastic potted plant for your patio deck, screen pool, balcony or driveway. Once the plumeria has grown, no maintenance is required at all which makes the plant the lowest maintenance plant in the world. It is drought tolerant and can be grown in full sun or partial sun. Why I like Maui... The Iao Needle

Located in the Iao Valley, a 6.2 acre state park, approx 2 miles above Wailuku. A few minutes from the cities of Kahului and Wailuku is this rain forest, moist and cool, lush amd full of beauty. On the (lava) Rocks!

We were just watching the sunset last night at the Cove Parkin South Maui, hangout place for surfers and canoe paddlers.
The lava rocks I am standing on here are the smooth ones and have a glossy finish.(When molten lava flows to the ocean and are chilled quickly, a thin, glassy rind forms on the exposed surface of the lava flow. This layer of glass provides the luster to the rock). Btw, it is un-cool to take rocks out of Hawaii, and kind of bad to be taking them anyway (since people after you would like to see the place un-scarred). But remember, there is a folklore about taking lava rock as a souvenir and a myth of bad luck will befall on you till you return it to where you got it. Jackson's Chameleon (Chameleo Jacksonii Xantholophus)

I got a little scared when I almost step on this little guy (first time I've seen this unique looking creature) during the upcountry caravan. I was told, these animals were imported to Hawaii as pets but were released in the owner's backyard in Oahu. A few years later, the jackson's chameleon could be found in Oahu, Maui, Hawaii and most recently in Kauai...
Today, I had a good look at the upcountry towns of Makawao, Pukalani, Olinda - What a beautiful, scenic and pristine country setting! As if you are away from civilization; up in the mountains with view of the Kahului harbor and Maalaea, cooler temperature, narrow and winding roads, giant Eucalyptus trees (nice scent, strong and very durable timber), fuller brushes (flowering tree), horses, chicken, etc.

A large pig is cleaned inside out, wrapped with Ti leaves and buried underground. Fire with charcoal is started right on top of the buried pig and kept there for just about the whole day. The slow heat above causes the meat to be so tender and the spices placed within make the Imu very tasty and center of attraction in a luau. Of course, without it, a Luau is not complete. So much food was served, Open bar, hula dancers and the great fire dance highlighted the evening starring the 3 time world champion knife sword fire dancer. As usual, you cannot ignore the spectacular Maui Sunset. This all happened last Friday at the Wailea Marriott..
